Dwayne Johnson’s Teremana Tequila Tops 600,000 Cases For 2021

Teremana Tequila, the brand co-founded by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has more than doubled in size over the past year and surpassed the 600,000-case mark for calendar 2021, the company has confirmed to SND. Teremana was recently named Best New Spirits Product in Market Watch’s Leaders Choice Awards after depleting 230,000 cases in its 2020 launch year.

While Teremana has no doubt benefited from strong support from Johnson’s highly engaged fan base, co-founder Jenna Fagnan tells SND that the brand’s strong price-value equation has also been integral to its early success. “There is an overwhelming appreciation for such a handcrafted ultra-premium quality Tequila at an accessible price,” she says. “We’re working hard to increase capacity for 2022 while remaining keenly focused on being the highest in quality, best in taste. That’s the cornerstone of the Teremana brand.”

In recent weeks, Teremana unveiled a new Añejo expression, aged in American whiskey barrels. At $40, the new entry retails slightly higher up the ladder than initial offerings Blanco and Reposado (around $30 and $33 respectively), with each bottle dipped by hand in black wax before being hand-packaged at the brand’s distillery, Destileria Teremana de Agave, according to the company.—Daniel Marsteller
